George Mason Universitys Department of Criminology, Law and Society invites applicants for a full-time, Term Assistant Professor and Director of the Intelligence Analysis Minor to start January 2019.

Responsibilities : The IA minor director position requires a solid knowledge of the intelligence analysis field and will teach 7 undergraduate courses in IA per year (3 in the fall semester and 4 in the spring semester), in addition to management responsibilities for the IA minor program. The Director responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting, screening, and overseeing adjunct instructors teaching IA courses;
  • Responding to students inquiries related to the IA program;
  • Mentoring the student-run Intelligence Community Club;
  • Working with other faculty and staff in the department on program and curriculum development;
  • Liaising with other Mason units on issues related to the IA program;
  • Developing a major program in IA.

    Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D., JD, or Masters degree in a relevant field of study;
  • Extensive work experience in the intelligence analysis (IA) field;
  • A record of teaching excellence.

    Annual compensation for this 9-month faculty position is in the low 50s, depending on qualifications. Optional opportunities for teaching in the summer for additional compensation are available. The initial one-year contract includes benefits and is renewable. This is not a tenure-track position and does not require research responsibilities.

The Department of Criminology, Law and Society is a multidisciplinary unit located on the Fairfax campus that offers degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. Our graduate program balances theory, empirical research, and policy applications. Our undergraduate program has concentrations in law and society, criminal justice, and homeland security, and a minor in intelligence analysis.
