  • ELIGIBILITY:

    Must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in a bachelor's degree (or more advanced degree) program in Engineering from an accredited or pre-accredited institution. (To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.)

    To be eligible for the GG-04, you must meet the following required education level: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or have an Associate's degree.

    To be eligible for the GG-07, you must meet the following required education level: Completion of 1 academic year of graduate level education, or do you have a bachelor's degree or have completed 5 academic years of pre-professional study.

    All educational requirements for this position must be met by June 30, 2020.

    Program Completion and Conversion:

    Interns may be converted at the discretion of the agency to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-5 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program.

    To be eligible for conversion, Interns must:
    • Be a U.S. Citizen
    • Complete at least 320 hours of work experience acquired through Internship Program
    • Complete their degree requirements
    • Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
    • Perform their job successfully

    QUALIFYING EDUCATION:

    1) A high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body, or a home-school curriculum that has been approved by such body or state.

    AND

    2) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education:

    (i) A 2-year or 4-year college or university;

    (ii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school)

    (iii) A graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school)

    (iv) A home-school curriculum

    Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements, if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.     Applications will be accepted from students who expect to complete qualifying education by June 30, 2020. However, agencies are required to verify that the education has been completed successfully before any applicant can be appointed (report to work); therefore, your selection or start date may be impacted by proof and completion of all position requirements.

    This position will be recruiting students for the summer of 2020, though may tentatively start earlier if all security requirements are cleared.

    This position will be recruiting for the following UIC's:
    3322A, 3540B, 41745, 46645, 46804, 53260, 53261 and 53262

    Students will typically work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) and will have to commit to working 160-320 hours during the summer months.

    Appointment may be extended for 1 year if student maintains enrollment.

    All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601.

    This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
