Communications Coordinator - Center for Juvenile Justice Reform (CJJR)
The Communications Coordinator at the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform (CJJR) plays an important role in coordinating the research center's internal and external messaging efforts. This includes leading communication efforts with the McCourt School of Public Policy (MSPP) faculty and staff, including the staff at CJJR and the other research centers at MSPP, and the faculty and staff at Georgetown University more broadly. It also includes messaging to CJJR's primary constituency which is the youth-serving field, composed of researchers, staff and partners from the juvenile justice, child welfare, education, and behavioral health systems (e.g., agency staff, judges, attorneys, clinicians, law enforcement, community-based organizations, advocates). The primary function of the Communications Coordinator is to develop and execute a strategy to manage and continually enhance the communications efforts of the organization. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Develops and executes an email marketing strategy for CJJR.
- Develops media toolkits for those affiliated with CJJR's projects.
- Coordinates the development of videos.
- Ensures the CJJR website is updated on a consistent basis.
- Maintains SJJR's social media accounts.
- Works collaboratively with CJJR staff to coordinate communications efforts.
- At a minimum, the Communications Coordinator must have a Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, government, policy, or other relevant area of study
- The Coordinator must have at least one year of practical experience that will inform the management and continual enhancement of CJJR's communications efforts
- Position requires excellent writing and editing skills, fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media
- Experience with graphic design, photography, website development and maintenance, and shooting/editing video is strongly preferred
- This is a part-time position at 24 hours per week
