Student Enrichment Coordinator, College of Education and Human Development

The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) Office of Student and Academic Affairs (SAA) invites applications for a Student Enrichment Coordinator who will support College retention efforts by facilitating new students’ transition to Mason and CEHD; by promoting student growth and engagement beyond the classroom; by preparing students for graduate studies or entry or advancement in their respective career fields; and by building affinity with the College. Additionally, the Student Enrichment Coordinator will organize research and well-being activities and celebratory events such as Degree Celebrations. The Student Enrichment Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Student Success, will be responsible for performing the following functions: * Developing and implementing programming in all facets of career and professional development to supplement services offered by Mason Career Services. * Promoting student participation in local and global civic learning and community engagement activities and living-learning communities. * Creating and implementing opportunities for students to engage in research activities, such as crafting and submitting proposals for conferences and delivering effective presentations. * Promoting the professional development of students through facilitation of clubs, student organizations, and honor societies. * Developing and managing organized vehicles for students to have an active and vibrant voice in shaping and contributing to the CEHD experience. * Organizing events and activities for students to enhance their engagement and connectedness to the College faculty, staff, and students, and celebrate their success and accomplishments. * Coordinating college-wide orientation for new graduate students, CEHD participation in new student orientations for undergraduates, and Welcome 2 Mason events.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Experience planning and executing small- and large-scale events and activities * Knowledge of student engagement theory and its connection to retention and degree completion * Excellent skills with Microsoft Office suite as well as strong database experience * Strong attention to detail * Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment * Excellent customer service skills * Strong ability to multitask and prioritize * Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications: * Master’s degree * Experience working in a higher education environment with diverse populations, including undergraduate and graduate students * Experience planning and executing events and activities specifically for college student audiences * Demonstrated skill in career counseling, student success advising, and/or academic advising * Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate academic and/or professional workshops
