George Mason University, a large public institution located in Fairfax, Va., seeks a full-time Associate Director for the Office of Academic Integrity under the Division of University Life to provide additional leadership and support for the Honor System and Honor Code which governs the institutions academic discourse. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include administering the Honor System around adjudication of incidents of academic dishonesty in conjunction with the director and developing educational programs and outreach initiatives aimed at reducing incidents of academic dishonesty at Mason.

The successful candidate will develop a comprehensive outreach and educational program regarding the Honor Code and issues of academic integrity for the campus community, specifically targeting students as the recipients of these outreach efforts;

This individual will also work with the Director to develop a strategic plan for the office, ensuring equity and efficiency in the Honor System process and the services provided by the office;

The incumbent will develop a marketing strategy for the office, including information about educational programs, the Honor Committee process and services provided;

In the Directors absence, the incumbent will serve as a liaison with the Provost Office, Faculty Senate, and other institutional entities; and

The incumbent will work with the campus community to further nurture an atmosphere of integrity and a coordinated response to incidents of academic dishonesty.

Required Qualifications: The Associate Director for Academic Integrity is a mid-level position in the field of student affairs. A masters degree in higher education, college of student affairs, or a related social science field and experience in higher education is required (a minimum of three years of experience strongly desired) in addition to an understanding of student development theory and student behavior management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the complexities involved in conduct case management;
  • Understanding of issues around Academic Integrity and student coordinated conduct boards;
  • Ability to recognize student crisis behavior and refer appropriately;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Experience with program and event coordination;
  • Experience with training and educating diverse learners;
  • Familiarity with issues around plagiarism;
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with faculty and staff as it relates to educational initiatives;
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Mac operating systems;
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve;
  • Conflict management skills; and
  • Data analysis and trend tracking skills.
