Position is located on Fort Meade supporting a large federal agency . Location : Fort Meade, MD Clearance: Top Secret (What is this?) Description: Below are major job responsibilities: Skilled in the installation, configuration and administration of Sun Solaris 9/10, Linux (RedHat preference), and Microsoft Windows Server 2012r2. Experienced in the development of System Readiness Review (SRR) scripts and the application of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines ( STiGS ) for Sun Solaris and RedHat Linux OS. Some knowledge of FreeBSD, OpenBSD, SuSE Linux, HP-UX, and/or Mac OS X. Experienced in the management of Sendmail, Bind 4/8, NIS, DNS, NFS, and/or LDAP services. Experienced in IP Network Ports & Protocols, DNS/DHCP & IP Management application support. Serves as the UNIX/Linux technical expert on executive-level project teams providing technical direction, interpretation and alternatives. Operates as a member of an operational support team performing root cause analysis to determine targets for operational improvement. Demonstrates exceptional written and oral communications skills. Software/application management (installing, testing, and updating the software on systems) Account Management (adding and removing accounts, managing user access and privileges) Server Management (running backups, monitoring and tuning performance, rebooting, setting up cron jobs, looking after the hardware and reviewing log files) Security Management (managing host-based firewalls, checking file permissions, and checking on important security configurations) Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision with proficient project management skills . Excellent customer service skills with adaptability for working in team oriented or independent projects. Strong understanding of networking architecture, servers, systems design, virtual hosts, licensing, configuration management, networking security standards, and protocols. Forward-thinking technology investigative skills providing recommendations and integration options. Capable of performing in-depth evaluations of current systems and projecting requirements to gauge strategic implementation plans . Advanced research and troubleshooting skills. Attention to detail in documenting Standard Operating Procedures . Desired Skills and Experience Operational environmental experience; system administration/networking/cyber/IA. Security remediation skills and provide support to CCRIs. Experience in creating and managing enterprise-wide configuration baseline. Exhibits the flexibility to multitask, refocus and shift priorities to support the mission, warfighter and customer requirements. Knowledgeable in IA and security disciple and practices. Advanced configuration management skills. Experienced in developing enterprise-level IT strategies and execution plans. Preferred Technical Knowledge Sun Solaris Server Operating System (SPARC and x86) installation, virtualization, administration, and maintenance Lightweight Directory Access Protocol and Active Directory integration Sun Solaris application packaging and installation Security Technical Implementation Guide review, STIG Viewer, SCAP and ACAS scanning Security Remediation and CCRI Support Public Key Infrastructure architecture, design, and maintenance Bourne and other shell scripting ITSM/Remedy Experience Knowledge of component level and integrated systems verification planning .
