George Mason University, Information Technology Services (ITS) - located on the Fairfax, Va., campus—invites applications for a COMPUTER SYSTEMS ENGINEER position within the, Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS), Advanced Technologies team. Responsibilities:

  • Develop system architecture and incorporate new technologies and capabilities into the university’s enterprise technology portfolio
  • Research, development, analysis, testing, and pilot implementation of emerging network, compute, storage and collaboration services and technologies
  • Subject matter expert in compute, storage, system virtualization and cloud technologies
  • provide technical leadership and design support for the Architecture team and EIS

    Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Ability to quickly understand new systems, services, applications and technologies, analyze their place in the market and industry, and manage their adoption into the university’s enterprise technology portfolio;
  • Expert knowledge of a Windows or Linux server operating system;
  • Expert knowledge of system virtualization, hypervisor, and orchestration technologies;
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve system problems;
  • Demonstrated experience in a systems administration/engineering role in a multi-user environment;
  • Familiarity with data networking technologies and concepts; and
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Significant work experience in a systems administration/engineering role in a multi- user enterprise environment;
  • Significant experience with systems architecture or design;
  • Microsoft System Administration certifications;
  • Red Hat or Linux System Administration certifications; and
  • System/Network Administration or Design certifications.

    Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
