  • This position is designated as Moderate Risk and requires a background investigation.  Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.

    If you are selected, you must complete a one year probationary period.

    If you are selected, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure form within 30 days of your first day of employment and annually thereafter.

    You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.

    We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

    To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as analyzing and/or implementing various comprehensive Safety, Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) programs; providing support to mid and senior-level safety and environmental professionals; supporting SHEM regulatory, programmatic and facility infrastructure audits and inspections; supporting the implementation of environmental and safety management systems, and coordinating SHEM recordkeeping and reporting requirements as well as site-support to Safety, Health and Environmental Program managers.    

    OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., in an academic discipline related to this position.

    Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:  

    1. Knowledge of a wide range of SHEM-related concepts, principles, and practices, as well as Federal laws and regulations and can perform complex administrative responsibilities related to planning, organizing, directing, operating and evaluating SHEM programs.

    2. Ability to offer recommendations in the development, interpretation, or application of Federal and agency wide SHEM policies and standards.
