Computational Social Scientist

Key Role:

Develop and validate the application of novel and established mathematical, statistical, and game-theoretic techniques to client problems of interest. Research projects and evaluate published and peer-reviewed techniques as they apply to client-specific data. Design, test, and implement novel algorithms and simulations to address client-defined problems and validate code and models produced by academic researchers for client tasks. Collaborate with analysts from a variety of social science and engineering backgrounds, including diverse methodological perspectives.


Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with applying mathematical or statistical techniques to novel problems of interest

-3+ years of experience with reviewing academic research papers and computer code to validate the methods assumptions, fitting it to a particular goal, and adapting the method to address client goals and data limits

-Experience with comprehending a qualitative scenario and writing a computer simulation of the system

-Experience with analyzing applied problems mathematically and statistically to produce an algorithmic solution

-Experience with economic modeling techniques, including Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models, econometrics, or agent

-based computational economics

-Knowledge of R, MATLAB, C#, and Python

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree


Additional Qualifications:

-TS/SCI clearance preferred

-BA or BS degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a quantitative field preferred; MA or MS degree a plus


Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
