Sales and Marketing Assistant - The EDGE
The George Mason University, Mason Recreation, Center for Outdoor Experiential Learning (The EDGE), located at the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center on the Science and Technology Campus, is seeking applicants for the position of Program Sales and Marketing Assistant. The Sales and Marketing Assistant provides support for The EDGE Sales and Marketing Assistant II in customer service, sales, marketing, and volunteer event coordination. The position reports to the Sales and Marketing Assistant II in collaboration with the Associate Director of The EDGE and Outdoor Adventures as well as the Assistant Director of The EDGE.
Responsibilities: Sales and Customer Service Support * Maintain databases, information flow and administrative details for all client groups. Generate contracts/final invoice, program day summaries, post program questionnaire summaries; * Query clients about program satisfaction; * Assist with meal delivery; * Conduct prospective client tours; * Assist selected client groups with name tags and similar program details; * Document and communicate kudos from clients to staff.
Marketing Support * Maintains client email database and assists in transfer from MailChimp to Emma email marketing system; * Generates campaign templates with content from Sales and Marketing Assistant II; * Documents campaign results; * Designs or updates promotional materials with Sales and Marketing Assistant II and Mason Recreation Assistant Director for Marketing, including flyers, PowerPoint presentations, and banners; * Assembles marketing support materials; * For Campus Labs surveys, enters adult program data, converts data and generates client reports in readable format; * Represents The EDGE at Mason and Freedom Center events; * Assists with materials at Freedom Center, updating bulletin board (quarterly), replenishing flyers in lobby, designing layout for electronic bulletin board and Insider magazine ads with content from Sales and Marketing Assistant II; * Assists with replenishing flyers in Hylton Performing Arts Center lobby; * Works with EDGE Sales and Marketing Assistant II and Mason Recreation Assistant Director for Marketing to generate information for The EDGE Web site and Facebook page; * Assists in monitoring The EDGEâ€™s Facebook page; * Assists with photography by archiving photos, selecting them for marketing, and soliciting them from clients and staff. Volunteer Service Events Support * Communicates program needs to EDGE staff for University Life Gives Back event in July; * Assists with Pitch in on the Piedmont (April and September) planning by recruiting volunteers, generating and distributing marketing materials, and generating Eventbrite registration; * Assists with event logistics by communicating equipment, food, and water needs for size of group; * Assists on the day of volunteer events by helping with equipment setup, greeting volunteers, and gathering contact information; * Assists with post-event information, including compiling volunteer contact information and creating an after action report with input from EDGE Facilities Manager.
Required Qualifications: * One or more semesters toward a bachelorâ€™s degree in marketing, business, recreation, or related field, or a combination of education and experience; * Significant experience or training or background equivalent in customer service; * Working knowledge of the challenge course and experiential education field; * Knowledge of Microsoft Office, website navigation, and social media platforms; * Ability to work in an outdoor environment and in an office with exposure to wide variations in temperature and weather conditions with continuous contact with facilitation staff and the public; * Ability to work occasionally irregular hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends; * Current Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid or more advanced certifications or ability to obtain these certifications within 90 days after hire.
Preferred Qualifications: * Significant experience in customer service and/or sales and marketing, preferably at a challenge course or similar program.
