Job Description

The Payroll Specialist reports to the Assistant Payroll Manager and processes periodic payroll in compliance with internal policies and federal, state, and local legislative requirements. Resolves employee question timely. Uses payroll knowledge to determine accuracy of payments through the Workday payroll system.

Job Summary

  • Process payroll for all biweekly employees, included in 6 FEINs
  • Process employee file maintenance as required for taxes, garnishments, and additional payments
  • Audit and process timesheets for all employees
  • Process shift differential, sick payments, vacation payouts, terminal payments, and other payments as required
  • Assist with creating 401(k) files
  • Audit of payroll register
  • Answering employee inquiries timely
  • Create manual checks as necessary
  • Maintain biweekly payroll audit folder through electronic scan function
  • Assist with year-end projects and audits
  • Prepare union dues payments
  • Create process documents for assigned tasks


  • 5-7 years payroll experience in a multistate, multi-FEIN environment
  • Solid foundation of payroll knowledge
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Skilled on Microsoft Excel
  • Respect for confidentiality
  • Experience with unions
