Public Health Nurse II
Works in the school health program assigned to school site(s) provides a variety of community services using a multi-disciplinary approach serving diverse populations in the school community. Services and interventions include outreach which include home/school visits, community assessment, health promotion, education, case finding, care coordination and disease prevention for students, families and communities. Must have a strong working knowledge of computers. Must also participate in the training, supervision and evaluation of unlicensed assistive personnel.

Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing education with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus one year of work experience in a public health/community health setting; or two years of full-time post-licensure experience as a nurse in an equivalent health care setting whose focus was primarily prevention services and community education.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Possession of current license or a multi state licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia;
Selected positions or area(s) may require additional certifications (e.g., CPR, STD) to practice specialized Nursing skills;
Experience providing health services to school aged-children, excellent communication skills, experience working with ethnically diverse populations and working on interdisciplinary teams. One year of work experience in a public health/community setting, and experience providing education for patients/clients or two years of full-time post-licensure experience as a registered nurse in an equivalent heath care setting which focuses on primary preventative services and community education.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background investigation, a Child Protective Services (CPS) check, a driving record check, and an Office of Inspector General (OIG) verification to the satisfaction of the employer. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to drive a vehicle. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
