Coordinator Track Access Maintenance Construction
- High school diploma or possession of general equivalency certificate (GED)
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in rail transportation, maintenance or construction.
- Experience with work scheduling, coordination and safety requirements (for work zones and worker protection); and with coordinating track outages and time-critical events.
- Associate’s degree, or vocational or technical school degree in Electronics engineering technologies, Power Distribution
Ability to satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this class.
The Coordinator, Track Access and Maintenance Construction reviews and approves requests and schedules and coordinates system-wide to access WMATA’s right of way from construction contractors and internal WMATA forces, for the completion of maintenance and project related work. In cooperation with the Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) staff, the incumbent determines work prioritization, resolves work access conflicts, executes required safety and power outage measures, and ensures the communication of appropriate change notifications and feedback for all stakeholders (internal and external) involved in rail operations systems maintenance and recovery efforts requiring access to the Authority’s right-of-way.
- Coordinates, reviews, and approves track rights requested by WMATA Departments through the GOTRS programs, to ensure all of the Authority’s various departments have safe reliable access to conduct work with approved requests to access mainline, rail yard, and non-wayside facilities, in accordance with applicable rules and regulations set by the Authority rail system.
- Creates, assesses, and approves switch orders needed to de-energize power through the GOTRS program, ensuring company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Office Administrative Procedures, and current rail system configurations are safely met while making repairs to the rail system and non-wayside facilities.
- In accordance all WMATA rules and regulations, ensures Revenue Service Adjustments (RSA) are entered correctly in GOTRS and works with Office of Chief Maintenance of Way Engineering (MOWE) to ensure effective coordination and documentation of the work planned, and to allow for more repair time for multiple groups by developing piggy-backing opportunities and/or other modifications.
- Reviews and approves Site Specific Work Plans submitted by WMATA Departments and contractors through the GOTRS-SSWP program, to ensure all of the Authority’s various departments, including SAFE, have knowledge of system altering developments and safe reliable access to mainline, rail yard, and non-wayside facilities.
- Coordinates projects with internal and external entities such as utility companies, construction planners, engineers, and other utility workers by communicating accurate and reliable information to all entities, while providing services such as clearances to access WMATA facilities, switching orders and maintenance priority to resolve administrative and technical issues related to projects and maintenance.
- Chairs a multi-organizational meeting to address conflicts with upcoming scheduled track work in coordination with multiple departments attempting to work in the same location on a night by night basis.
