The American Enterprise Institute seeks a night porter to join the facility management team in maintaining the AEI property and ensuring the successful completion of facility needs.
Primary responsibilities of the position include maintaining the cleanliness of public areas in the building, assisting in event setup and cleanup, and performing general cleaning of the facility, including restrooms, kitchens, and office spaces. The porter will also interpret and understand written diagrams of the event space and assist with maintaining and repairing equipment and building spaces as needed.
The porter will work independently and report to the manager of evening porters. The ability to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision is a must. This position may require overtime, day, evening, weekend, and occasional on-call availability.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); the ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and janitorial instructions, and procedure manuals; and the ability to perform physical activities such as lifting heavy items (up to 50 pounds unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, or walking. The ideal candidate speaks effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization and has experience working in a janitorial role. Knowledge of commercial cleaning industry and floor care is a plus.
