Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, education and experience levels. Ability to communicate in a work environment with frequent interruptions. Displays high level of initiative and utilizes independent judgment routinely. Guest Services/Volunteer Services Receptionist monitors volunteers, provides applicable information to volunteers to ensure sharing of correct information to visitors, confirms supplies are available at desk, and checks department schedule to guarantee coverage. Operating Room (OR) Receptionist works to efficiently coordinate all scheduling of procedures, provides notifications and changes to appropriate staff, and collects necessary demographics to ensure maximum utilization of OR resources while ensuring provider and patient needs are met.
The Guest Services Department is the gatekeeper at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. We pride ourselves on being actively engaged and knowledgeable about safety and customer service. The Guest Services Department is a non-clinical department with staff in three locations, The Geddy Outpatient Center lobby, The Main Hospital Lobby, and the Emergency Department Lobby. In all of those areas we are the eyes of safety and must speak up if something is unsafe. Every team member is cross trained all three locations.
The Geddy Outpatient Center is staffed by our department Monday through Friday from 0700 to 1000 and again at 1300 to 1700. In this location you will get a lot of questions pertaining to wayfinding of patient's doctor's office.
The Main Hospital Lobby is staffed by our department Monday through Friday 1600 to 2100 and Saturday/Sunday 0800 to 2100. In this location you will get a lot of questions pertaining to wayfinding of loved ones who are admitted as well as locations around the town. This is also where people will bring those unique questions and problems.
The Emergency Department Lobby is staffed by our department 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. In this location it is our responsibility to “arrive” a patient into our electronic medical record system, print an arm band, and quickly get this patient to the Rapid Assessment Unit. In addition, we will round on patients and visitors who are in the lobby and help in any way possible.
We are currently looking for a Flexi Receptionist. This position is NON BENEFITED. Our all electronic schedule system allows the recipient of this position to have a set schedule and the ability to plan months out. Members of this team are able to pick up extra hours and still remain flexible. A normal schedule would be about 3 to 4 days a week with 4 hour shifts.
