BSN or MSN preferred. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty. BLS required within 90 days of hire. New Hire Education Requirement: All Registered Nurses who do not have their BSN will be required to sign a BSN Agreement committing to successfully obtain their BSN within 5 years of hire.

Sentara RMH Medical Center, a Magnet designated hospital located in Harrisonburg VA, is currently seeking a Registered Nurse for the Outpatient Cancer Center.

Hours/Shift:

Full-time (36 hours per week) day shift position

Monday - Friday, 9 hour days, various start times 7:30-8:30. We flex off in the afternoons, so do not always get 36 hours per week however, nurses are scheduled 4, 9 hour days. Call 2 weekends a quarter, which is usually only 2 hours on Saturday & Sunday morning. When we do have treatments on the weekends they are generally blood transfusions or lab collection and we usually know on Friday when we have something scheduled.


Department/Position Overview:
We are a comprehensive Cancer Center, offering Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology services. We have 4 infusion beds and 18 chairs for our infusion patients. We administer chemotherapy agents, biologics, blood products and iron treatments. Six nurses administer 35-40 treatments per day in our infusion lounge. We staff our clinic and infusion lounge, both exclusively with registered nurses. All nurses cross train to deliver care in the clinic as well as the infusion lounge. All new nurses complete an online chemotherapy administration course through the Oncology Nursing Society, as part of training. Once that course is completed, we have a dedicated staff educator who will design the remainder of orientation, which is tailored to individual learning needs. We have 5 Medical Oncologists, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Dietitian Certified in Oncology, a Genetic Counselor, 2 Clinical pharmacists and a Patient Navigator as part of our team as well.
