Communications and Program Development Manager

The George Mason University, Student Centers invites applications for the position of Communications and Program Development Manager. Responsibilities: The position is responsible for the coordination and management of all marketing, communication, web content management, social media engagement, and branding initiatives of Student Centers. This position will also be responsible for collaborating with staff to develop a strategic plan to promote the foundation, attract donors, and asses the performance of the annual giving initiatives for the newly formed Student Center Foundation. The Communication and Program Development Manager will supervise student wage employees who will support these responsibilities. This position reports to the Associate Director of Building Services and Program Development.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience;
  • Significant experience specialized in donor relations, corporate partnerships, or fundraising;
  • Strong communication (written and verbal);
  • Analytical and organizational skills—with attention to detail and ability to set and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects at one time—are essential skill sets;
  • Knowledge and experience working in Adobe Creative Suite, Word Press, Photoshop and Acrobat; PHP, HTML/XHTML, CSS and JavaScript; as well as the principles and techniques of Web design, layout and topography, and Web site management;
  • Must be familiar with Web site/Internet security, online forms design, and online payment collection system security requirements;
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Windows, Linux and Macintosh OS (P); and in Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla Firefox Web browsers;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with nontechnical people, both in Web page design and in providing workshops on technical topics;
  • Must be able to continuously expand one’s knowledge about technology and methods supportive of Student Center management processes; and
  • Demonstrated Web development work some of which includes working closely with nontechnical clients. Prior experience directing the work of part-time design personnel is preferred.
