GS-06 Level:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating radio communication equipment to dispatch emergency services; 2) Receiving incoming telephone or alarm system calls; 3) Providing information and initiating directions to incoming callers; and 4) Recording pertinent data, events, and logs.
GS-05 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Successful completion of four years above high school may be combined or substituted for specialized experience for the GS-05 level.

This position has promotion potential to the GS-07 grade. If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. For GS-07: Incumbent is required to be trained as a Telecommunicator, trained to perform NCIC/NLETS/III criminal history checks, and certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch.
For GS-06: Incumbent will be required to attend and satisfactorily complete the following training/certification prior to advancement, within 8 months, and renew qualifications at required frequency. Training expectations will be completion of mandatory training/certification including Telecommunicator, Incident Command System (ICS), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Additionally, incumbent will be able to seamlessly operate Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and the emergency call system. Incumbent will have completed the regional dispatch training program and be able to perform call taker, police, fire, and medical dispatch functions.
For GS-05: Incumbent will be required to attend and satisfactorily complete the following training/certification prior to advancement, within 8 months, and renew qualifications at required frequency. Training expectations will be completion of mandatory training/certification including Telecommunicator, Incident Command System (ICS), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
