Assistant Professor on the Research Track

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, is recruiting for an Assistant Professor on the Research Track, to develop our microscopy imaging efforts with an effective start date of October 1, 2018.

The candidate should have working knowledge and publications with multiphoton excitation, second harmonic generation, third harmonic generation, and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy. Additional experience with superresolution microscopy (STED, PALM, STORM, nSPIRO) is also most desirable.

The faculty person will: (i) ensure that the instruments are appropriately adjusted for the imaging study being conducted and to help investigators get the optimal use out of the instrument; (ii) arrange for monthly seminars illustrating the techniques and latest developments in microscopy, and (iii) enhance collaborations with leading microscopy investigators and companies.

In addition, the faculty person will help investigators apply for NIH S10 grants and develop his or her own research interests and apply for independent or collaborative grants.

The faculty member will be assisted by the manager of the microscopy core who will take care of the schedules, the billing process, and as necessary the service calls.
