Graduate Assistant - Information Technology, Data Science & Cybersecurity
The School of Business and Technology (SBT) invites Marymount graduate students enrolled in the universityâ€™s M.S. programs in Information Technology Data Science, or Cybersecurity to apply for a 1/3 Graduate Assistantship position.
Three positions are available for the 2018 â€“ 2019 academic year.
A 1/3 Graduate Assistantship works 7 hours per week and receives 3 graduate credits each semester of the assistantship. No additional stipend is given.
â€¢ Providing supplemental support for SBT graduate students in areas such as quantitative analysis, academic writing, and APA-formatted research (30%)
â€¢ Providing support to teaching faculty, including proctoring exams and managing materials on Canvas, etc. (20%)
â€¢ Planning and administering academic events for the Cyber Center (15%)
â€¢ Creating and maintaining the Cyber Center Canvas site and other academic resources (10%)
â€¢ Assisting in research and development projects (35%)
To be eligible for a Graduate Assistantship, a student must:
1- Be accepted into Marymount as a graduate student
2- Have applied to or be registered in at least 6 credits in the Graduate Programs in Information Technology or Cybersecurity during any semester in which you are awarded a GA position
3- For current students, graduate GPA must be at least 3.0. For entering graduate students, undergraduate GPA must be at least 3.0.
â€¢ Strong skills in research, writing, and interpersonal communication
â€¢ Initiative and ability to work independently, including creative problem solving
â€¢ Familiarity with technologies commonly used for educational purposes, such as Canvas, Google Sites, Microsoft Office, etc.
â€¢ Strong background in quantitative skills (including advanced use of MS-Excel) in a business environment
â€¢ Ability and interest in learning to use new computer applications
â€¢ Familiarity with social media, web design, and/or image and video editing software is highly desirable but not required
â€¢ Teaching experience is highly desirable but not required
