George Mason University Student Health Services seeks an enthusiastic and energetic individual for a Medical Data Specialist/Receptionist position on the Arlington, Va., campus primarily. Responsibilities: This position is responsible for assisting the front office staff, including answering phones, greeting walk-in patients, scheduling patient appointments, scanning, medical record copying, filing and billing. The position will report to the Clinic Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Must have the ability to schedule students for health appointments using an electronic format, and greet walk-in patients, including recognizing patients who may be experiencing more severe symptoms or distress; and
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. The applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings and occasional Saturdays. The Arlington Campus Clinic is open on Mondays, 11:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and Thursdays, 11:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. This individual must be able to work these shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of medical office front desk experience or other outpatient clinic experience;
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures, medical terminology and electronic health records; and
  • Basic CPR certification.
