Job Description: Coordinates the provision of spiritual care throughout the hospital for patients, families and staff. Develops, implements and evaluates the spiritual plan of care through a spiritual assessment. Educates staff in the provision of spiritual care. Coordinates and collaborates with multi-disciplinary team members to facilitate comprehensive and integrated holistic care of patients and families (to include clinical ethics). Documents patient care concerns and interventions. Contributes to hospital committees. Offers expertise in cultural/faith diversity, advance care planning, major life transitions, end of life medical decision-making, and grief processes. Works in a multi-staff and culturally diverse setting. Education Level
Master's Level Degree - DIVINITY

Other
Equivalent education will be considered. Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education required. Ordination or commission to function in ministry by a recognized religious group; and religious group endorsement for hospital chaplaincy required. Board certified by a national certifying professional chaplaincy organization within 2 years of employment. Please note: Current employees hired as of 8/1/2014 are grandfathered to the certification requirement. Basic CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) training, group and individual, within one (1) year of employment. Ethics consultation training as determined by the Sentara Center for Healthcare Ethics within one (1) year of employment.

Sentara Healthcare is currently recruiting for an experienced Chaplain to work Part-time (32hrs/wk), Rotating Shift (Days & Evenings) in support of operations at our Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

Sentara Leigh Hospital is a Magnet Status, 250-bed facility featuring all patient-friendly private rooms and specializing in orthopedic, gynecological and urological services. Sentara Leigh offers a contemporary care environment for general medical/surgical and ambulatory services and is home to the orthopedic hospital, which has 48 beds dedicated to specialized orthopedic care. The hospital offers a full-service Emergency Room with a dedicated observation unit, Critical Care, GI, Oncology and Palliative Care services. It also encompasses a Family Maternity Center.
