Duties may include, but are not limited to: Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses to undergraduate Health Science majors (Pre-Physical Therapy, Health Promotion, Pre-Professional [Occupational Therapy, Athletic Training, Chiropractic]) following the American College of Sports Medicineâ€™s Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAâ€™s); to students minoring in Public Health; and to graduate Health Education and Promotion students, which follows NCHEC/CHES competencies.
Undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities are agreed upon in consultation with the Department Chair and may include: Introduction to Health and Exercise Science, Introduction to Sports Medicine, Essentials of Personal Training, Advanced Anatomy, Kinesiology and Cardiovascular Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Community Health, Health and Fitness Program Management and Fitness and Health Assessment at the undergraduate level.
Graduate course load may include Exercise Physiology and Designing Adult Fitness Programs, Research Methods in Health Education and Management of Health and Wellness Organizations.
Faculty is also responsible for advising graduate and undergraduate students, curriculum development, providing service to the department, university, profession, and local community. Teaching load is 12 credit hours (4 courses) per semester with optional summer teaching. Other responsibilities may include the supervision of Graduate Assistants and service to the school as defined by the Dean and department Chair.
- Masters in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Athletic Training or Exercise Physiology/Personal Training.
- A doctorate is preferred
- Terminal degree (PhD or earned doctorate in an appropriate field)
