POSITION TITLE: Marketing Manager

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Marketing

SUMMARY:Responsible for working with the Senior Director of Marketing and AGA staff to develop and implement marketing strategies to promote membership and the products, programs and services of the AGA Institute, AGA PAC, and AGA Research Foundation.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. General Management:
    1. Develops, implements, and tracks marketing strategies and tactics to advance the goals and objectives of AGA, AGA Institute, AGA PAC and AGA Research Foundation.
    2. Initiates and manages marketing projects, including direct mail, print and electronic advertising, website/s, email, social media, etc.
    3. Monitors the financial status and prospects of the programs and activities under her/his purview. Ensures that expenditures are appropriately authorized and within budget.
    4. Maintains relationships with and manages internal and external designers and printers.
    5. Assumes other duties commensurate with this position as assigned.
  2. Specific Responsibilities:
    1. Works with the Senior Director of Marketing and staff from other departments to develop marketing concepts, including copy and design approaches, which adhere to and build on the AGA brand.
    2. Writes and edits promotional copy tailored to specific audience segments.
    3. Performs list segmentation, in coordination with the data manager, for targeted promotions.
    4. Develops project timelines and ensures deadlines are met.
    5. Ensures measurement techniques are built into marketing activities, tracks marketing results and provides reports on individual projects.
    6. Monitors individual project budgets.
    7. Monitors the financial status and prospects of the programs and activities under his/her purview. Ensures that expenditures are appropriately authorized and within budget.
    8. Maintains relationships with and manages internal and external design agencies and printers.
    9. Quotes design and print to outside vendors on a project by project basis.
    10. Works with designers to ensure designs meet project requirements as well as overall AGA design standards.
    11. Supervises print buying and print production.
    12. Writes promotional articles for AGA print and electronic publications. Works with the Senior Director of Marketing to identify newsworthy events involving programs, products and services. Develops articles that will complement existing marketing efforts for said programs, products and services. Coordinates placement of articles with Editor/Program Director.
    13. Tracks competition and maintains an archive of marketing collateral.
    14. Coordinates trade show exhibit activities.
    15. Assumes other duties commensurate with this position as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Degree in marketing or related experience (preferably professional membership association work).
  2. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in all aspects of marketing, including direct marketing, targeted emails, advertising and e-commerce. Experience with marketing automation and social media marketing a plus.
  3. Excellent project management skills and experience leading cross-departmental integration of marketing efforts.
  4. Proven copywriting, editing and proofreading skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to integrate data with customized marketing efforts.
  6. Experience working in a membership organization developing, implementing and tracking membership recruitment and retention plans a plus.
  7. Experience working with designers and experience in print buying and management.
  8. Basic knowledge of HTML a plus.
