Shared Archives Specialist
SUMMARY: This position plays a key role in the success of the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) to enhance the quality and impact of scholarship of the member universities by sharing resources among its participating libraries. The Shared Collections Specialist processes new materials for addition into the shared collections; shelves and retrieves requested materials; scans and delivers electronically requested journal articles and other materials; and provides guidance to the temporary processing staff and to the courier staff, as needed.
The Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC), established as a non-profit corporation in 1987, supports and enhances library and information services for nine universities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The WRLC enables the success of learning and scholarship by creating coordinated collections, creating a robust infrastructure for discovery and access, ensuring the long-term preservation of physical and digital information resources and sharing expertise.

High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework, desirable; familiarity with the role of academic libraries meeting the information needs of students, faculty and staff; library or document delivery experience preferred; strong oral and written communication skills; must be computer literate; knowledge of Windows desktop, word processing, and e-mail required. Ability to adjust to periods of increased workflow and varying responsibilities; flexible; ability to work as part of a team in a changing environment. Some Sunday shifts required. Ability to handle heavy loads (lift 50 lbs. regularly; 80 lbs. on occasion.)
