HR ASSISTANT - TEMPORARY
Mid-sized, boutique intellectual property law firm based in No. Virginia with offices in China, Korea and Japan. Its legacy began more than 50 years ago. The HR Assistant role is a new, temporary role at the firm. The position reports to the Firm Administrator and is responsible for managing the day-to-day human resources activities of all US workers. The position offers an ambitious administrative assistant with a strong interest in human resources the opportunity to be in on the ground floor of building a human capital structure to facilitate the sustainability and growth of an existing firm in a new era.
Duties may include but not limited to:
Manages Firm recruiting process: Prepares job postings; Posts jobs to firm website; Screens applications; Phone screens candidates; Schedules interviews;
Manages on-boarding process;
Performs HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance;
Assists employees and supervisors with basic questions regarding HR policies and
Assists with new-hire on-boarding and employee orientations;
Maintains confidential personnel files, personnel actions and all HR records;
Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status;
Assists with benefits administration;
Assists the manager with HR projects;
Maintains the administrative calendar and the Firm Administrator’s schedule;
Covers for the Firm Office Coordinator as necessary;
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum two (2) years working in human resources and minimum three (3) years working in a law firm and working in administrative support. Each type of experience may be independent of the other types of required experience.
Required skills are: Experience in recruiting, employee benefits and working with HRIS systems; Intermediate to advanced experience in using Microsoft Office Suite; Proven strong verbal and written communication skills; as well as an understanding and respect of law firm hierarchy. Experience in using social media tools for recruiting is a plus.

The ideal candidate must be open to constructive criticism and demonstrate the ability to accept change with a focus on positive outcomes. Strong organizational skills are a must.
