  • To qualify at the GS-11:
    A. Have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related. Degree major must have been public health or other field of study with coursework directly related to the work of the position to be filled;
    OR
    B. Have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: assisting with conducting and coordinating strategic planning activities within a public health organization; collecting and compiling data to evaluate the overall effectiveness of a public health program; drafting and administering public health program surveys; and preparing staff reports and presentations; OR
    C. have a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

    To qualify at the GS-12: Have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: conducting studies and performing other analytical work related to the planning, development, organization, administration, evaluation, and delivery of public health programs; developing qualitative and quantitative methods and strategies for planning, evaluating, and documenting public health program activities; assisting with developing data collection instruments, instructions, and other substantive resources; monitoring funding for a public health program

    To qualify at the GS-13: Have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: coordinating studies related to the planning, development, organization, administration, evaluation, and delivery of public health programs; developing short and long range plans for a public health program; providing recommendations on future public health efforts based on statistical analyses; and coordinating advisory planning committees or workgroups to discuss public health programs.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
