  • To qualify for this position, applicants must possess the following qualifications:

    BASIC REQUIREMENT:
    All qualified applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in a major study in Psychology. You must submit copies of transcripts with your application. Education will not be credited without documentation. ~AND~

    In addition to the Basic Requirement, applicant(s) must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the Personnel Psychologist position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: utilizing knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of organizational development sufficient to research, analyze, evaluate and provide advice and consultation; developing new methods, approaches or procedures in the coordination of healthcare studies to help improve programs, systems, strategies and/or services; developing and/or delivering scientific training programs; performing analytical studies - analyzing data, generating reports, and utilizing databases; and monitoring compliance aspects of grants, contracts, study protocols and agreements. NOTE: Applicant resume must clearly support the above experience to be creditable. We will not make assumptions regarding experience.

    IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.     Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending or driving a motor vehicle. Frequently carries research records and other similar materials. The work does not require any special physical effort. Work is performed in an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated environment.

    Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies.     Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
