  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
    • Conducting statistical analysis, studies, and analyzing findings to make recommendations on substantive operating programs that require applying a knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques, along with a knowledge of the mission, organization, and work processes of the programs and the relationships of administrative support activities
    • Conducting detailed analysis of complex functions and work processes including the examination of production standards, workloads, non-productive time, and deviations from standards to determine validated staffing requirements for the function studied
    • Performing a wide variety of analytical studies and projects related to management improvement, productivity improvement, management controls, and long-range planning, including developing guidance on techniques for management and methods improvements, analyzing and advising on proposed reorganizations or realignment of functions, and developing manuals and directives covering the administrative aspects of field operations
    • Prepare and/or provide briefings and presentations on analytical findings and recommendations; direct the development of new and/or changes to existing directives
    You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
    • Serve as an expert or analyst or advisor on the evaluation of the effectiveness of programs and operations and/or the productivity and efficiency of management; implement, coordinate and/or oversee a variety of complex management programs impacting the agency's activities
    • Plan and/or conduct broad and/or in-depth special studies; develop and/or evaluate policies in assigned areas of responsibility
    • Design and coordinate planning activities; develop, implement and/or monitor sophisticated management information systems
    • Prepare and/or provide briefings and presentations on analytical findings and recommendations; direct the development of new and/or changes to existing directives
    • Determine the applicability and effect of new or proposed legislation, executive orders, agency directives, and other agency decisions on organizational operations, managerial programs and requirements; and represent the organization at meetings and conferences.

    National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
