  • Your resume must demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates all of the following experience: 1) Assisting higher level security personnel in conducting security inspections; 2) Assisting in the development and review of DD254s; and 3) Assisting in the processing of security investigations/clearances. Examples of qualifying experience may include the following: 1) Conducting security inspections and surveys of designated areas to ensure compliance with established requirements; 2) Performing assessments of prospective employees to determine eligibility for assignment to sensitive positions; 3) Analyzing and providing recommendations towards security issues and concerns; 4) Ensuring the necessary clearances are initiated for military and civilian personnel by obtaining personal history statements and fingerprints; and 5) Reviewing contract documentation to ensure all requirements are incorporated as necessary.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    Applicants may also qualify on the basis of education: Successfully completed a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree; OR have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
