Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, provides individual instruction to the assigned child with the goal of increasing the childs level of independence.
Assists the teacher in the development and preparation of materials to be used with this child.
Assists the child during group activities.
Assists the teacher and the interdisciplinary team in the formulation and implementation of psycho-therapeutic and behavior management strategies for this child in the program.
Assist teacher in development of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Plan for assigned child.
If requested, accompanies, participates or observes the child in therapy sessions: and, within the classroom facilitates the child's progress toward academic and social-emotional goals.
Records observational data on student behavior at the predesignated intervals in collaboration with the teacher and interdisciplinary team.
Available to restrain child in the child control position.
Reads the child's reports and IEP.
Participates in the school's interdisciplinary team meetings, workshops and other selected Lourie Center staff meetings.
Continues professional education in special education or a related discipline by attending internal or external workshops, conferences, and/or coursework.
Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher, especially when the designated child is absent or progressing enough that constant physical guidance or proximity is no longer necessary. When the teacher is absent the aide's specific role and tasks are designated by the teacher in advance and performed in collaboration with the Teacher Assistant for the day.

Knowledge/Certification: The position of Classroom Aide requires a minimum of bachelor's degree in education, child development, psychology or other related discipline. Basic knowledge of child development issues is required.
Work Schedule:

Day shift - Monday - Friday
