High School diploma or equivalency.
HealthCare experience required in a front desk setting.
Two years of secretarial or administrative support experience preferred.
Able to communicate clearly and concisely, oral and written.
Legible handwriting.
Ability to work independently and handle a multi task environment.
Strong customer service skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Basic computer and applicable software programs.
Demonstrate a positive attitude toward patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers.
Maintain composure in stressful situations.
Serves as resource to newly hired staff, supplemental staff.
Performs secretarial/clerical duties for the behavioral health nursing division.
Functions as communication link between physician, nurse, patient, hospital personnel and visitors.
Must be dependable, flexible and willing to accept responsibility.
Assists the multidisciplinary team in providing a safe therapeutic environment.
The Unit Secretary must be able to organize and manage a multi-tasked environment while maintaining excellent customer services skills.

1. Transcribes physician orders according to policy and procedure.
Checks charts regularly for physician orders. Notifies RN of stat orders immediately.
2. Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of family and significant others in the patients treatment as evidenced by greeting visitors and answering phones in a customer friendly manner while protecting patient confidentiality.
3. Manages the patient record according to established guidelines. Assembles and disassembles charts using correct chart sequence. Files chart forms and reports promptly in the correct medical record. Verifies patient identification labels are on each page. Secures upon discharge all separate chart documents. Works to minimize loose sheets being sent to medical records.
4. Understands utilization of all chart forms. Assures staff form file cabinet is stocked with current forms. Maintains accurate and complete admission and chart packets.
6. Maintains floor stock/inventory in a neat organized fashion. Orders, obtains, and transports supplies as needed. Responds to and resolves any immediate supply needs. Returns equipment and patient used items promptly to central supply.
7. Able to operate and maintain unit equipment such as phones, fax machines, printers, and copiers. Uses the proper channels to report equipment problems or issues.
8. Provides consistent customer services to all staff, patients, and visitors. Responds to the customers needs in a timely manner, or explains the delay or inability in meeting the needs.
9. Participates in Professional development and training activities to enhance knowledge and skills consistent with organizations mission, vision, values, and goals
Work Schedule:

11 am - 7 pm Weekdays
