Provides short-term individual, family, and group counseling services to children impacted by domestic violence and their families. Provides consultation to parents of children impacted by domestic violence. Under direct supervision performs assessments and develops treatment plans for providing services, to include crisis intervention, stabilization, and short-term treatment with an emphasis on intervention and prevention and appropriate referrals for continuing care. Manages and facilitates children's group. Provides case consultation for other service providers. Provides hospital accompaniment as requested by survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Performs counseling services duties including community and professional training, volunteer training and supervision, intern supervision, meetings with professionals in the community, hotline coverage, and scheduled on-call overnight availability for crisis response. This position predominantly services Spanish-speaking clients and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Duties include:
  • Performs assessments and develops treatment plans for providing services, to include crisis intervention, stabilization, and short-term treatment with an emphasis on intervention and prevention and appropriate referrals for continuing care;
  • Provides case consultation for other service providers;
  • Provides hospital accompaniment as requested by survivors of domestic and sexual violence;
  • Performs counseling services duties including community and professional training, volunteer training and supervision, intern supervision, meetings with professionals in the community, hotline coverage, and scheduled on-call overnight availability for crisis response.
Note: This is a grant-funded position and the compensation will not exceed $61,299.91 of the advertised compensation range. It is anticipated that grant funding will be renewed on an annual basis. Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus three years of professional social work experience. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

UNDERFILL REQUIREMENTS:
This position may be underfilled as a Social Services Specialist II (Grade S23; $55,647.49 to $92,745.54). The employment standards for the Social Services Specialist II are: graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus two years of professional social work experience. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in a field related to counseling or master's in social work; clinical licensure, specialized training in treating trauma; and the ability to speak Spanish fluently. Experience in counseling or a related field is acceptable in place of social work experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The appointee to the position will be required to satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, and a driving record check.
  • Driver's license or ability to efficiently access other means of transportation in order to visit clients in their homes and to meet with community service providers.
  • Some positions may require oral and written bilingual competency in English and a second language.
  • Ability to transport self to job site and other activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
