Behavioral Health Supervisor
Supervision duties to include: clinical supervision and administrative coaching to motivate staff for development. Reviews customer service and addresses treatment concerns as they arise. Quality assurance - reviews cases and charts. Assures adherence to billing procedures, state and federal standards being met. Arranges panel interviews and selection of candidates for various positions. Facilitates weekly multi-disciplinary meetings. Collaborates with other divisions regarding priority population determination and assign to staff as appropriate. Supervises day to day program operations. Collaborates with prescribers and nursing regarding treatment of individuals. Conducts annual performance reviews and career development plans. Implements disciplinary steps when needed. Participates in site management as needed. Backs up BHOP manager as needed. Position includes direct service to a partial caseload. Provides supervision and direct clinic services to a diagnostically complex population of adult persons age 18+, BHOP Priority Population. Addresses cultural overlay, socio-economic, health issues. Recovery oriented services to include comprehensive assessments, comprehensive case management services, supportive counseling, and evidence based clinical interventions focused on the needs of an adult population age 18+. Services are provided in partnership with individuals served and their caregivers/families, in the community or in the office with a strong emphasis on respecting consumer preference. Services provided under the supervision of Manager of Behavioral Health and Outpatient Team.

Provides staff supervision for all clinical aspects of the program;
Plans, assigns, and reviews work of team members;
Interviews and selects candidates for various positions;
Performs complex evaluations and makes independent diagnoses using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) - 10;
Provides individual, family and group treatment;
Maintains a caseload of diverse, complex, and high risk individuals;
Develops treatment plans and adapts treatment interventions and approaches;
Provides assessment and treatment services to individuals presenting a wide variety of emotional, social, and mental disorders over a range of severity;
Consults with professionals on a variety of problems including delivery of needed services for clinically complex cases;
Provides liaison to community agencies to facilitate communication and service provision for individuals requiring multiple services;
Develops and implements program activities and services, including training and educational activities;
Under direction, develops and implements a specialized program which is designed to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of service provision;
Supervises day-to-day program operations;
Promotes awareness of program services through presentations;
Develops and monitors program's policies and procedures;
Ensures that program is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and statutes;
Mediates and facilitates inter-and intra-program issues needing a systems perspective;
Plans, recommends, and executes quality initiatives related to mental health standards;
Monitors and analyzes the impact of psychotropic medication on an individual's functioning and mental status;
Provides crisis stabilization and crisis management;
Ensures that a facility is maintained in good operating condition and compliant with health and safety, licensure, and regulatory requirements.
Extensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and methods of the psychological and social development of humans;
Thorough knowledge of the elements of a comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment and interviewing techniques;
Thorough knowledge of and ability to implement recovery oriented practices and person-centered planning;
Knowledge of major schools of treatment inclusive of substance abuse prevention and treatment methods/techniques;
Core skills in motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapies;
Knowledge of psychiatric, psychological, sociological, and addiction terminology and concepts;
Knowledge of clinical supervisory methods and techniques;
Knowledge of alcohol and/or drug addiction and the physiological and psychological effects;
Knowledge of existing referral agencies and community resources;
Demonstrated case management skills;
Ability to formulate diagnoses and to diagnostically interpret data obtained from psychological test results, social histories, and interviews;
Ability to evaluate the severity of individuals' substance use, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on daily functioning; and implement commensurate level of treatment and support;
Ability to manage a caseload and manage the workflow of the team;
Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with individuals receiving services and the individuals and families who support them;
Ability to prepare, produce, and conduct program presentations;
Ability to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate programs;
Ability to supervise and train service professionals;
Ability to successfully perform as a team leader/member;
Ability to evaluate performance, provide feedback, coach, correct, and implement personnel procedures;
Ability to function independently in high stress situations;
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, public and private sector organizations, community groups, and the general public;

Graduation from an accredited college with at least a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing plus three years of clinical experience or a doctoral degree in psychology, social, counseling or nursing plus one year of clinical experience. Must be eligible to be licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, a driving record check, and a TB test to the satisfaction of the employer.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must be currently licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Requires a valid motor vehicle driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent in another state) at time of appointment and maintained throughout employment with CSB.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds; drive to locations in the northern Virginia; communicate with clients individually and in groups. Must be sufficiently mobile to take part in activity oriented groups and to implement MANDT style procedures if required. All duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
Experience in clinical and administrative supervision. Certification in Clinical Supervision a plus. Combination of training and/or experience providing services to priority population. Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, and this adult population and its issues, particularly life stage/developmental challenges. Competent in crisis management. Culturally competent. Bilingual skills. Computer and MS Office proficiency. CSAC a plus.
