Social Science Analytics Consultant, Senior

Key Role:

Lead cross-functional teams of social science researchers from across Booz Allen Hamilton to design, develop, and execute innovative solutions to help the internal revenue service, and other federal clients solve analytic and strategic problems. Develop meaningful and productive relationships with clients by embracing their mission and working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of high quality analytic work products. Provide oversight, support, and mentoring to junior analysts and consulting teams on statistical, economic, and analytical issues, including overseeing the development of study designs and sampling approaches, data access strategies, analytical work plans, SAS programming, and the interpretation and reporting of study results. Provide ad hoc statistical, economic, and analytical support to internal and external clients. Provide subject matter expertise for IRS programs, systems, and data to support both business development and client delivery activities. Summarize and communicate analytic results to internal and external clients both in person and in writing. Demonstrate thought leadership on IRS tax compliance policy and advanced analytics techniques. 


Basic Qualifications:

-5 years of experience working in an analytic role within the social science research field

-Experience with analyzing Federal tax policy and tax compliance issues

-Experience as a client advisory and leadership role

-Experience with building interdisciplinary teams around research projects

-Experience with managing, combining, and manipulating large administrative databases

-Experience with statistical software packages and programing languages, including SAS, R, Python, and SQL

-Experience with designing studies, analyzing data, and reporting analytic results to lay and technical audiences

-Experience with proposal writing

-Experience writing and reviewing analytic research reports and publication

-MA or MS degree in social science or analytics


Additional Qualifications:

-Knowledge of the US Tax Code and related compliance issues

-Knowledge of various public and private systems, services, and tools that citizens use to interact with the IRS

-Knowledge of IRS's issue resolution process

-Knowledge of emerging tax issues and changes in tax policy

-Knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies that could be leveraged to support both the tax system and tax payers

-Knowledge of behavioral economics and how behavioral insights could be leveraged to improve tax compliance.

-Experience with publications evaluating IRS policy and programs

-Experience working with IRS computing systems

-Experience managing complex projects in a consulting environment, including being able to successfully identify requirements, determine priorities, resolve issues, and manage client relations

-MA or MS or PhD degree in a social science or quantitative field, including Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, and Applied Mathematics
