Family Support Worker

Under the supervision of the Lourie Center Early Head Start Family Services Manager, delivers family support and social services to children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards. Family Support Workers build understanding of the program by communicating its philosophy, mission, and services to staff, families, and the community and supports other content area staff in doing the same. The position focuses on how to better serve the family and their needs through the Family Partnership Agreement. Collecting community resources and providing referrals for services for families and meeting their individualized needs. The Family Support Worker also implements Parent Involvement coordinates and supports parental involvement; provides information to families regarding community resources and helps them access services; provides emergency assistance/crisis intervention to families indicating need. Adheres to AHC, LC, and EHS mission and the RISES Values at all times.
Assists Centers and Teachers with planning and conducting monthly parent committee meetings and functioning as a committee; Meets with Teaching Team on a weekly basis Assist the Family Engagement Specialist and Manager with annual program wide event planning and ongoing parent trainings; Coordinates and/or conducts education opportunities for parents and volunteers; and Schedules and completes home visits and visits to assigned classrooms/centers. 30%
Assists families to identify interests, concerns, services, and strengths; Supports families to develop skills needed to achieve their goals; utilize the parenting curriculum Circle of Security and Parents as Teachers as appropriate in your work with families.; and Link families to community providers and Assists parents in arranging transportation to appointments at various social or medical agencies. 30%
Maintain all reporting and record keeping, including a monthly report to the Family Services Manager; Monitors child attendance closely and Follows procedures to maintain full enrollment; Establish and maintain accurate health and social services records for each family and Inputs data into ChildPlus database including, but not limited to, in-kind, attendance, enrollment applications, and family information, and other as needed. 20%
Initiates and sustains contact with service organizations; Maintains a current directory of community resources; Attends appropriate community meetings and events; and Identifies and recruits prospective families for enrollment and volunteers for Head Start. 15%
