POSITION SUMMARY Leads the Owens & Minor International Tax function, delivering an effective international tax strategy by working closely with domestic and international teams to drive tax planning and structuring, due diligence, transfer pricing, tax compliance and reporting, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, financial accounting for taxes, and risk management. Works with foreign subsidiaries and outside tax advisors to research and document complex tax issues.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Drives corporate international tax planning initiatives, including the analysis of tax structures, tax attributes of entities, technical transaction/reporting analysis, and working with tax leaders and teammates at business units.2. Leads tax process improvement initiatives, including the identification and development of new projects. Maintains relationships with outside tax advisors. Evaluates and optimizes the coordination of US and international tax laws to develop an international tax strategy.3. Establishes tax strategy for the International Tax function ensuring a successful execution of these strategies to help achieve corporate strategic initiatives. 4. Translates company objectives into specific goals and action items; develops Tax strategies and develops guidelines/procedures to support this strategy. 5. Directs the preparation, review and submission process for international tax reporting for company domestic and non-US affiliates. Works with outside advisors to ensure that compliance is timely, accurate and complete. Coordinates, prepares or reviews returns and information reports (eg Forms 5471, 8858 and other attachments) as appropriate.6. Manages the review and preparation of the quarterly and annual accrual of income taxes on foreign operations in support of ASC 740, FAS 109 and FIN 48 financial accounting for taxes.7. May develop budgets for top-level management approval and manages the International Tax departmental budget(s). 8. Interacts internally and externally with senior level management, which may require negotiation of critical matters. 9. Leads acquisition due diligence, structuring, tax reporting and other transaction-related projects, keeping close partnership with business development, treasury, legal and accounting teams.10. Assists with the structuring and planning of any international reorganizations.11. Manages the accurate tracking and updating of tax attributes of international subsidiaries, including earnings and profits, tax basis, foreign exchange exposures, foreign tax credits and Subpart F estimates. Assists in the coordination and preparation of transfer pricing documentation. 12. Collaborates with local country controllers and/or outside consultants to monitor the accurate and timely filing of VAT and non-income tax returns and reports. 13. Researches international tax issues and liaises and coordinates with international tax counterparts and finance directors to keep current on global tax positions, local tax laws and local tax planning initiatives.14. Ensures international tax functions are compliant with internal SOX policies, including reviewing and monitoring necessary revisions to existing documents and procedures.15. Works with outside advisors and the international controllers to oversee and support all components of the data collection and analysis with respect to the international affiliate's tax packages and international tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740.16. Mentors junior tax professionals.17. Builds on technical competence by keeping up-to-date on trends, developments and technical authorities and applies them to international tax situations within the scope of responsibility.18. Utilizes available tax software to efficiently manage compliance, research and other responsibilities.SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs additional duties as directed.
