Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software.This position will be responsible for the development and delivery of the modular enterprise engineering design and implementation plan for the Secure Web and Application Services and Storage and Backup solutions that shall support the infrastructure hosting workloads for both on premises and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This position will serve as the Platform Engineering SME.Required:Provide the technical guidance and direction to design the modular operating system baselines to support the modular data and application Tier hosting strategy. Will work as part of a team to champion and implement SysOps and DevOps concepts.Demonstrate outstanding hands-on experience and thorough understanding of Storage, Backup and Platform (ie Linux, Windows) engineering design, configuration, and troubleshooting. Demonstrate excellent understanding with Secure Web and Application Services solution to include engineering, designing, configuring, and implementing appropriate technology. Demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience with cloud services and technologies. Competencies and in-depth experience working and integrating open source frameworks/products, experience deploying various open source packages and/or application stacks into a production landscape, multi-core, multi-threaded, and distributed system.Knowledge on how to both craft and drive good requirements and specifications documentation. Ability to quickly self-learn new technologies and be passionate when it comes to making technical breakthroughs and solving complex problems. Have a diverse IT background, strong hands-on technical experience, organizational and interpersonal skills working as part of a team and at times in a highly autonomous manner, mentoring others as needed.Experience in creating an engineer design and implementation plan for the Secure Web and Application Services, Virtualization and Cloud Services, and Enterprise Storage and Backup Services. Ability to provide SME guidance and technical direction for Platform (ie Linux, Windows) Engineering team.Experience as a Systems Engineer in a mission or enterprise environment to include reviewing and evaluating engineering designs to ensure standards and best practices are being met.Competencies with enterprise engineering design and implementation for Storage (ie Files, Objects and Blocks), Platform (eg Windows and Linux), Web and Application Services (to include secure remote access to web and SaaS applications with zero endpoint configuration).1. Leads the research and development of new software products and applications on the leading edge of established knowledge and standards.2. Conceives, designs, prototypes, and tests new methods, algorithms, and models.3. Defines architecture requirements and performance standards to meet or exceed management and customer specifications.4. Identifies and directs resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues.5. Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.6. Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel.7. Serves as the primary customer interface to resolve problems and ensure requirements are met on a timely basis.8. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software engineers, and may have supervisory responsibilities.9. Serves as a technical team or task leader.10. May provide expertise to multiple projects and tasks.11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.12.
