Responsible for the preventive maintenance, monitoring, and mechanical repairs of hospital building systems, providing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning throughout hospital; also responsible for the safe operation of all other mechanical equipment. Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Licensure & Certification: Boiler Certification required. Minimum 3rd Class Maryland Stationary Engineer License required. Skills & Abilities: Ability to operate and trouble shoot, and perform pm's on high pressure steam boilers, A/C equipment, Medical Air & Vacuum Systems, Emergency Generators, Air Handler Units, Pneumatic Valves, Energy Management System, and other misc. pumps and hospital equipment. Ability to work on Steam Valves, Domestic Water System, and Plumbing Systems, soldering, brazing, and welding. Ability to read schematics, equipment diagrams, and blue prints. Ability to work independently and to prioritize work assignments. Physical Demands: Works in all areas of hospital campus, with possible exposure to extreme temperatures, loud noise and tight quarters; requires walking, standing, reaching, and bending approximately 80% of the time; requires lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling equipment, weighing up to 100 pounds, approximately 30% of the time; requires visual acuity and manual dexterity in order to operate tools and machinery; potential for exposure to hazardous materials and situations; and potential for exposure to blood and/or body substances requiring the observance of Standard Precautions and safe handling practices.
