Requisition Summary The Powertrain Validation group is responsible for validation testing of engine, transmission, vehicle, and exhaust aftertreatment hardware and software used on PACCAR trucks. Group members develop specialized roles (powertrain software, vehicle performance, aftertreatment systems, etc.) while maintaining cross-disciplinary training and knowledge. Division Information The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Job Functions / Responsibilities Serves as the Powertrain Validation (PTV) Technician and vehicle technical expert for current, post model year, and developmental truck and test cell validation In support of the PTV RMA Lead: Provides daily technical maintenance support of PTV Rapid Mileage Accumulation (RMA) test trucks and engines, including fault monitoring, investigations, fault and mileage tracking, updating truck software, and general maintenance required to support RMA in coordination with RMA Lead, PTC Vehicle Operations (VO), Engine Test Cell managers and the Powertrain Validation manager Identifies and tracks all validation truck/engine faults, including the coordination of required troubleshooting, maintenance and data base tracking Assists with PTC driver requirement meetings, truck and test cell upfit planning, environmental test events and other validation requirements as assigned Supports the installation and management of PTV validation truck and engine test cell hardware configurations, and other duties as assigned Installs instrumentation for PTV test trucks and hardware upfits requiring in depth understanding of diesel engine related systems and operations Maintains and communicates the overall status of all PTV trucks and engines in coordination with all applicable PACCAR Technical Center (PTC) Departments Coordinates with associated entities as appropriate to ensure content accuracy and completeness of PTV Failure Report and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) entries Conducts Field Test truck preparations including vehicle instrumentation in coordination with the lead engineer and other associated PTC departments Provides support to PTV test engineers as necessary with their validation testing of general vehicle functions (GVF), sign off standards (SOS), and engine and exhaust installation requirements (EEIR) Writes reports, as appropriate, incorporating results, conclusions, and recommendations Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with all other departments Develops and maintains a high level of familiarity with PACCAR products and service tools Presents results of test or investigative projects to divisions or management personnel Travels for occasional off-site testing up to 10% travel annually Qualifications Minimum 6 months of truck/automotive related work experience desired Strong advanced diesel technical background and experience Experience with vehicle software highly desired Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively Self-directed, excellent analysis and technical judgment required Education AS or BS degree in appropriate discipline desirable Additional Job Board Information PACCAR is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veteran/Disability.
