Senior Field Engineer - TS/SCI with polygraph
Description:The Leidos Defense & Intelligence Group is seeking a Field Engineer to support a program in Northern Virginia. 30-40% CONUS travel is required for this position. The Field Engineer will deploy, install, and maintain servers, routers, edge switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware in support of customer operations. This is a fast-paced program that requires someone who works well in a dynamic environment. The Field Engineer is responsible for procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of all projects. Responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff. Must have the ability to complete complex assignments without direction and direct those engineers that are more junior. Ensures that systems are implemented in a tight time frame and within budget. Additional Field Engineer duties shall include but are not limited to the following: * Evaluate data centers for the installation of equipment* Install applicable equipment (with racks if needed)* Perform onsite testing of equipment and coordinate with other engineers* Install and connect applicable cables * Coordinate pick-up and delivery of equipment * Troubleshoot network connectivity issues Qualifications:Required Qualifications:* Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field; or if no degree, 8-10 years of related experience performing engineering functions on programs of similar size, scope, and complexity. * 8+ years as an engineer supporting technical programs* Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP * Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches* Experience with commercial PBX and associated telephones, VOIP/data telephony* Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection* Working knowledge of CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipment* Experience working with SONET rings and associated hardware* Experience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS OfficeLeidos Overview:Leidos is a global science and technology solutions leader working to solve the world's toughest challenges in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, civil, and health markets.
