As HR Business Partner you will be responsible for delivering a pragmatic, customer-focused HR solution. You will drive and support the development and delivery of HR projects or activities aligned to the HR Calendar and against the AZ people strategy. Handling complex HR queries within the span of your responsibility, you will be the primary point of contact for HR policy issues and provide critical advice on key people processes for your aligned customer group -- Global Medicines Development (GMD). In addition, you will be assigned to a small client group within GMD where you will partner with the client on succession planning, strategic workforce planning, talent acquisition and manage all aspects of the people strategy. As a member of the GMD HR Team you will work closely with both site based and Global HRBPs. Fielding complex HR queries, you will support and coach local and global managers through a variety of people related issues. GMD is the area of our business responsible for Drug Development -- our mission is to transform innovative molecules into medicines that change lives. Our GMD team is around 5,000 people and our critical, core expertise sits at the heart of our vibrant scientific centres in the UK, Sweden and the US. We work closely with colleagues in our biotech and commercial groups, driving faster decision-making and enabling the smoother transition of projects. We have one opportunity based in Gaithersburg, US As HRBP your main duties and responsibilities include: * Provide expertise to enable the business to implement AZ people strategies and business specific programmes. * Provide operational advice and guidance to the business on the people strategy, policies and programmes as required. * Coaches, supports, mentors and challenges managers in the application of HR policies and practices, provides advice and guidance on complex HR issues in order to minimise risk and financial exposure. * Responsible for managing projects in multi-disciplinary projects, covering a number of areas, including recruitment, compensation and benefits, performance management, people management, employee relations and change management * Deliver "value-add" guidance to Line Managers on key people processes and delivery of people-related business initiatives. * Resolve country focused complex Tier 3 queries, escalating within AZ any issues which fall outside standard global/country policies. * Develop Line Manager Effectiveness in employee engagement, change programmes and managing across multiple locations.Education: You will hold a degree in a Business or HR field or equivalent. Relevant postgraduate qualification would be significantly advantageous., * Solid HR generalist experience, with a focus on recruitment, compensation, employment relations or organisational effectiveness * Experience of working in a fast paced, rapidly changing, commercial and challenging environment, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector * Experience of working in a complex, matrix, global organisation * The proven ability to influence and manage the expectations of senior stakeholders * Sound judgment and the ability to propose practical solutions * Able to act independently with credibility and confidence * Self-starter with good prioritising skills * Customer focus/service mentality * Highly agile and resilient
