  • You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to assist with providing paralegal support for hearings, trials, appeals or advisory services; assist with analyzing legal impact of legislative developments for administrative and judicial decisions; assist with developing litigations cases; conducts research for preparation of legal opinions; creates exhibits for use in court; assist with managing a high volume of discovery and implement solutions to improve the discovery management process; and assist with review and format legal documents to include motions, notices, requests and correspondence; OR

    Education
    : Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B, if related; OR

    Combination of Experience and Education: Specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and more than one year but less than the required education in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

    You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    The VOW Act requires treatment of certain individuals as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligibles for purposes of an appointment in the competitive or excepted service, even though the service members have not been discharged or released from active duty and do not have a DD 214, Certificate of Release of discharge from Active Duty, to submit along with their resumes.
