As a Public Safety Procurement Technician you will assist with the procurement, coordination, and tracking of Office of Public Safety staff vehicle and Fire and Rescue apparatus and equipment.

Public Safety Procurement Technician

Serves in the Budget and Property Management Department in the Office of Public Safety located at Ronald Reagan National Airport.

Assists with the procurement, coordination, and tracking of staff vehicles and Fire and Rescue apparatus. Reviews and/or edits pre-order vehicle specifications; helps prepare contract ready documents. Monitors preventative maintenance schedules for vehicles. Maintains inventory databases. Performs related functions.


Assists with the procurement, coordination, and tracking of staff vehicle and Fire and Rescue apparatus, as well as personal protective equipment for all current and new Fire and Rescue personnel.

Works with superiors and subject matter experts to develop Public Safety vehicle and equipment specifications.

Assists in researching, developing equipment specifications, and writing statements of work for vehicle and equipment purchases and for contractual services.

Prepares contract ready procurement and solicitation documents for Supervisor's review and approval.

Maintains contract files in Workday.

Maintains log of vehicle mileage; schedules and tracks maintenance and/or planned replacements.

Monitors and updates, Public Safety and Fire and Rescue inventory levels using the approved tracking system. Runs and reviews system reports to track, trend, and order.

Creates, maintains, and retrieves manual records and automated files, databases and spreadsheets in support of Public Safety and Fire and Rescue Property budgets, inventories, purchases, work orders, and to generate reports.

Schedules appointments and makes arrangements for personal protective equipment fittings and required maintenance for all current and new Fire and Rescue personnel.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Three years of progressively responsible experience in providing administrative and logistical support services.

Ability to perform general analyses of data and information (including identifying the accuracy and relevance of the information) and make corrections and/or recommendations.

Ability to create and maintain files (e-files and paper files) and inventory control systems.

Ability to learn specific automated functions and systems to develop, run, and review system reports.

Ability to speak and write effectively, with emphasis on accurately preparing and completing documents and forms.

Ability to use computer hardware and modern office suite software, with an emphasis on inventory systems.


Experience in procurement and contracting.

Experience with supply or inventory management in a Police, Fire and Rescue, or military setting.


A high school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).


A state driver's license in good standing.


Work is typically reviewed in progress and upon completion for quality, quantity, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors.


A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.
