The School of Integrative Studies (SIS) at George Mason University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty appointment for the position of Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies to begin in August 2019. Leadership Studies is an interdisciplinary field and as such, we expect successful candidates will have academic training in leadership from a variety of perspectives, including higher education, organizational psychology, management, and/or in a closely related field in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. A primary focus of this position is demonstrated knowledge of leadership theories and models that advance and uplift inclusion and diversity in leadership processes. The leadership studies program prepares undergraduate students for positions of leadership in government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and industries whose activities relate to or impact leadership, with special emphasis on contemporary leadership theories and applications.

Responsibilities: SIS is seeking a collaborative, dedicated, student-centered colleague with a strong research agenda in areas related to leadership studies who can:
- Develop a program of research in contemporary leadership studies that connects theories and scholarship for leadership in a diverse world and the 21st century workplace;
- Carry a 2-2 teaching load;
- Serve on SIS, college, and university committees;
- Expand the on-line offerings of Leadership Studies and related courses.
- A completed terminal degree in an area directly related to leadership studies;
- Experience in undergraduate teaching;
- Advanced skills in creating on-line courses;
- A Demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship and in undergraduate teaching. Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in interdisciplinary undergraduate programs;
- Demonstrated record of scholarship in the area of leadership studies and civic engagement;
- Ability to develop a strong research program that is capable of attracting internal and external funding.
