The Manager of Human Resources within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) reports directly to the Assistant Director of Finance & HR within the Business Support Services unit. This position is responsible for providing the front-line HR services within the Division. The Division includes almost 300 staff and an additional 300 students.

A successful candidate will be an experienced HR professional with supervisory experience who is able to prioritize multiple demands. Core duties for a successful candidate will include: managing the hiring process and on-boarding, ensuring the Division is following all HR/Payroll requirements, conducting salary analysis, managing parking assignments, leading tuition remission, and maintaining repositories and documentation vital for leadership’s decision-making. This position is integral in the day-to-day functioning of the Division.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.


A minimum of five years of managerial or senior administrative experience in human resource/payroll/personnel management in a large-scale organization, preferably in a higher education environment. Including, a minimum of three years experience supervising employees.


-Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.
-Ability to problem solve.
-Ability to demonstrate initiative.
-Skill in the use of computer systems and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
-Ability to manage and motivate a professional and administrative staff in a customer service environment.


- Master’s degree 
-Thorough knowledge of University, State and Federal policies/procedures applicable to personnel management. 
-University of Maryland experience.
-Knowledge of H1B and other visa statuses (transitions and new requests)

Physical demands: this position is a typical office position that requires the ability to sit at a computer for long stretches of time. Some late hours will be necessary at times.
