Program Coordinator, Department of Government - Georgetown College

Georgetown's Department of Government is an open, dynamic, and publicly engaged community of scholars, students, and professional staff. We believe in the ideal of scholarship for its own sake but are also deeply committed to the role of cutting-edge research in informing politics and public life.

The Program Coordinator provides administrative support for the management and supervision of the M.A. in Conflict Resolution program at the department's satellite office. S/he works closely with the directors of the program and is the primary point of coordination and communication between this M.A. program, the Graduate Program administrative team in the Government Department, and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.  The Program Coordinator has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as primary point of contact for students, as well as for academic advising and tracking student records.
  • Coordinates internships and job placement services for the M.A. students.
  • Promotes the M.A. program nationally and internationally throughout the year.
  • Coordinates events and workshops, and special programs.
  • Assists with fellowship, grants, and development.
  • Oversees student and faculty recruitment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree  - Master's degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience in a professional environment - preference for experience working with student advising in an academic or professional environment
  • High professionalism
  • Ability to initiate and successfully carry out projects
  • Ability use good judgment, and strong skills in organization, problem-solving, and communications skills 
  • Great attention to detail
