We are currently seeking experienced Benefits Specialists to support our federal client, the Internal Revenue Service. The Benefits Specialists will review Official Personnel Files for retirement plan errors and process retirement plan election payroll corrections. These positions are full time and onsite in Washington, DC. Successful candidates for this position will provide support in the following areas: Official Personnel File Review Complete a Certified Summary of Federal Service Standard Form 2801-1 (Civil Service Retirement System) or 3701-1 (Federal Employees Retirement System) for each employee Official Personnel Folder Purge Official Personnel File non-required and unofficial documents Identify retirement plan election, retirement Service Computation Date, and retirement code errors Prepare documentation of all errors identified Payroll Processing Process Federal Erroneous Retirement Coverage Corrections Act (FERRCA) and Retirement Code Correction cases assigned through e-Trak and upload all associated case documents Set up case files, assign and control work inventory Process retiree retirement plan election responses Respond to OPM retirement plan election inquiries Contact federal agencies to calculate employee retirement Service Computation Date Log new cases into e-Trak Perform filing of completed Certified Summary of Federal Service form documents and other required Official Personnel File documents related to retirement plan election Create and update a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to include data from retirement code deductions or Thrift Saving Plan adjustments from microfiche payroll listing Complete corrected Standard Form-50 Notification of Personnel Action Process History Correction Update Packages on the Treasury Integrated Management Information System Payroll System Prepare and submit National Finance Center Form AD-343, Payroll Action Request and submit to for processing Monitor National Finance Center Specialized Personnel Processing System for requested changes Update e-Trak throughout the work process Draft closing letter to retiree upon retirement plan election correction verification Submit correction packages to other federal agency for retirement plan election error corrections as applicable Run, review and analyze case inventory reports for open and closed cases, number of completed reviews of Official Personnel Folder Reviewed, and number of number of potential Federal Erroneous Retirement Coverage Corrections Act errors found The successful Benefits Specialists will have a minimum of five (5) years of federal benefits experience supporting civilian agencies and possess the following competencies: Must be well versed in regulations related to retirement and benefits Must be a quick learner regarding agency specific processes and transactions Knowledge of a broad spectrum of Federal HR laws, rules, regulations, principles and practices related to retirement and benefits Experience with e-Trak and NFC Ability to research complex policies/guidelines and provide expert HR advisory services in order to code and process a variety of retirement actions Ability to plan, coordinate, develop facts, set priorities and meet deadlines Strong written and verbal skills KnowledgeBank offers a competitive pay and benefits that includes generous paid-time off including holidays, short-and-long-term disability; group healthcare insurance including medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending account for health and dependent care; 401(k) retirement plan and professional certification reimbursement.
