Associate Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Brand Management
Position Summary Information Basic Function The Associate Vice President leads the College's integrated brand marketing strategy to advance the reputation of NOVA as a leader in higher education and support its mission to support students on their pathways to success, whether that is directly to the workforce or via transfer to a four-year institution. The position provides strategic direction, oversight, and resource management to define and enhance the College's brand position, raise awareness of its distinctive attributes, and effectively engage key constituent groups including prospective and current students, parents, alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and other key internal and external constituents Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, this position provides consultation to the president, vice president, and other senior academic leaders to identify marketing priorities and achieve priority goals. A capacity for creating, maintaining, and leading effective structures and mechanisms for cross-college marketing integration and optimization is critical, including managing councils and committees comprised of staff, faculty, executives, and volunteers. A highly productive and collaborative relationship with peers in positions of student recruitment, development, governmental affairs, and other externally focused functions is essential. . Minimum Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a master's degree and considerable experience with in marketing and communications. Have a track record of developing and leading successful marketing and communications campaigns that achieve specific, measurable results. Preferred Qualifications Substantial experience in leading a brand marketing and communications department in an academic or similar non-profit environment. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities *Must be a strong communicator with excellent written, presentation, and oral communication skills. *Must possess excellent judgment; be able to think creatively and strategically; function as a consensus-builder; and serve as an institutional diplomat, fostering a spirit of teamwork among diverse offices throughout the College. *Understands multiple functions and messaging platforms, *Ability to provide team management *Ability to provide senior counsel effective marketing and communications strategies in a higher education setting *Ability to collaborate closely with campus leaders and partners *Ability to manage the marketing budget, personnel and vendor relationships * Ability to identify marketing and promotional opportunities to position NOVA for greater media visibility *Ability to develop innovative ways to make the NOVA's website a key marketing tool for conveying the NOVA' vision and its importance to constituents. *Ability to ensure compelling, relevant, and timely content that features NOVA faculty, student, and alumni accomplishments. *Ability to use new and interesting ways through various media and communication platforms to showcase the College *Knowledge of ways to advance the College's priorities including selective student recruitment and enrollment, student success and retention efforts, constituent engagement, and increased philanthropic support. *Strong knowledge of the college recruitment process *Ability to succeed with increased responsibility *Ability to manage multiple major projects *Experience developing and executing institutional communications programs. *Experience leading others at the director (or higher) level. *Deep working knowledge of institutional branding, publications, and web communications and development. *A minimum of a master's degree from an accredited institution in communication, journalism, public relations or related field. *Experience working within higher education *Extensive professional experience with demonstrated professional advancement to a senior management-level position (including several years at the director's level), *Demonstrate knowledge of brand development and current marketing and communications trends, including new media channels *Possess strong and assertive leadership, analytical, creative messaging, and problem-solving skills *Possess a commitment to diversity and an ability to work constructively with a variety of constituents *Possess a strong work ethic and an energetic, influential, and diplomatic work style.
