BASIC FUNCTION:The Market Sales Manager (MSM) is the key executive responsible for the overall profitability,sales culture, sales promotions, people development, store standards/operations and customerexperience excellence for their assigned group of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries. The MSMrepresents the Company in their store unit and geographic location and therefore is held to thehighest standards of ethics, integrity and professionalism. The Market Manager will improve thecustomer experience along with store performance and enhance talent development.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Profitability:* Reviews and acts upon all financial opportunities including expense management, marginenhancements and sales drivers* Educates the staff on the financial realities of running a successful business* Provides feedback and innovative ideas to the Company on building a more profitableoperationSales Culture and Promotions:* Build and sustain strong relationships with store teams, customers, vendors, corporatepartners, and community organizations* Develop, challenge, and motivate store Leadership teams and inspire them to lead theirindividual team results* Coaches to the Company selling skills model with the passion to drive real action* Develops grass roots marketing and community focused events that build sales andsupport our communities* Uses the Company metrics to coach the proper behaviors needed to be a world classselling organizationRETAILJOB DESCRIPTIONPage 2 of 3* Create an environment where Store Managers are empowered leaders who deliverexcellent customer service solutions that are aligned with company goals and are thechampions for employee achievementPeople Development:* Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain highly skilled and engagedemployees who exhibit energy and enthusiasm by diagnosing total market and individualstores' strengths and opportunities; hiring and developing talent, and successionplanning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent* Keeps a detailed succession plan to ensure there is never a vacancy in any key position(manager, designer, sales professionals)* Utilizes the Company trainers to keep their team ahead of the curve on productknowledge, selling skills and operational efficiencies* Mentors others in and outside their areas to build the executives of the future for theCompany* Create a continuous learning environment that delivers the most knowledgeable andskilled teams in retail* Conducts regular leadership training sessions to build a well balanced team* Treasures diversity and staffs to meet the demands of the community* Works closely with the Human Resources professionals to stay on top of all employeerelations issues, training certifications and legal requirements* Leads all activities with the highest ethical standards and demands the same from theirteamsStore Standards/ Operations:* Follows the Company programs to keep a clean, well merchandised store* Trains and follows up on the store teams on areas such as cycle counts, accountingprocedures, RMS procedures and store line ups.* Works with the merchandising team to execute all line up changes and sell thrustrategies (clearance)* Executes all tagging and sign programs 100% to the Company standard* Initiate and lead business plan efforts to maximize results, evaluate other competitiveretailer practices, and provide communication and feedback for process improvementswithin the organizationCustomer Experience Excellence* Ensure the highest level of customer experience in all stores by setting expectations ofexcellence in the execution of store standards, talent development, and productknowledge* Sets the highest standard for customer care* Personally greets and welcomes every guest into their store* Follows the Company plan or better on prospecting new customers* Is innovative in finding ways to delight their guests* Is intolerant of any lack of customer caring by the staffRETAILJOB DESCRIPTIONPage 3 of 3* Other duties as assignedMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:* Bachelors of Science/Arts degree in Business Administration or related study preferred;
